▌智慧，就是好奇、探索與明辨
首先我們談談「什麼是智慧」？
智慧，就是能夠分辨、能夠明瞭，知道這是桌子、這是凳子、這是風扇、這是天空，這樣一種明辨、分辨力，同時帶著一種想要了解的好奇心。每一個人都具備這樣一種好奇、想要去探尋的心。
我們今天之所以會在這個課堂裡頭，其實就是因為大家都有一種興趣、有一種好奇、疑問，想要了解。就像鳥兒，現在我能夠看到很多鳥，牠們在地上跳來跳去、左顧右盼，在找東西吃——這樣一種好奇尋覓的心，我們每個人都有。
我們稱為「智慧」的這樣一個特質，也是每一個人都具備的，無論你是誰、無論你是什麼樣的人，每個人都具備這樣的智慧。所以我經常說每個人都具備著覺知，每個人都有慈悲；智慧也是一樣，每個人都具備的。
很重要的是，我們要認識出自己本具的這些覺知、慈悲和智慧。
▌《心經》核心，就是超越智慧的智慧
我們現在探討的《心經》，它的核心就是講智慧。
尤其這邊談到的智慧，還不是一般的智慧，而是「般若智慧」，這樣一個般若智慧，用英文說，就是完美的、圓滿的智慧，它是一種「超越智慧的智慧」。
我剛剛談到，智慧就是這樣一種明辨、探尋、好奇，所以你看到這是一支錶、那是一張桌子，重要的就是要知道如何去明辨、分辨，如果我們能夠見到一切現象的本質、它的實相，那麼你就能超越這樣一種只是分辨，超越概念，就能生起超越的智慧。

Wisdom is curiosity and discernment
First, what is wisdom? Wisdom is the ability to discern. It means knowing this is the table, this is the chair, this is the fan, this is the sky. This ability to discern comes with curiosity, an interest to know. And everyone has this curiosity, this questioning mind.
You’ve come here because of this interest and curiosity. For example, when we look at the birds – I see a lot of birds here – they are on the ground, looking for something to eat, looking right, looking left… this curiosity and questioning mind is always with us.
This is what we call “wisdom”, and everyone has it. It doesn’t matter who you are, everyone has this wisdom. I normally talk about how everyone has awareness, everyone has love and compassion. It is the same with wisdom – everybody has it.
The important thing is to recognise our own wisdom, our own love and compassion, our own awareness.
Essence of Heart Sutra is “wisdom beyond wisdom”
The Heart Sutra is mainly about wisdom.
And it’s not just any normal wisdom. Here we are talking about the transcendent perfection of wisdom, meaning “wisdom beyond wisdom”.
Remember I said that wisdom is curiosity, an ability to discern what is there. It is how you know, “Oh, this is a watch”, “Oh, that is a table”. If you know how to discern, if you know how to look at the nature of reality, then in the end you will go beyond discernment, beyond concept, beyond wisdom.
